The Honda FourTrax Rancher 4x4 has the best of both worlds, built for outdoor adventures and work around the ranch or farm. With so many key features and benefits, the Rancher 4x4 is the ‘get it done’ and adventures ATV.
Black is the new color for 2008, adding to the ever so popular color scheme of Red, Olive and NaturalGear Camouflage. We just can’t see as much mud and dirt on Black as Red.
The rough OHV liquid-cooled, fuel-injected 420cc engine is mounted longitudinally, and the driveshaft is aligned to give both the front and rear wheels maximum traction capabilities. A five-speed transmission has a super low First gear and handlebar push button shifter makes it easy to operate. For even more traction, the TraxLok 4WD/2WD selector lever allows 4WD when needed for the tough stuff and 2WD when conditions permit.
The heavy duty frame has 6.5 inches of ground clearance and a has very tight turning radius, only 10.5 feet; take into account this ATV is 80.9 inches long and 46.1 inches wide. Expect a comfortable ride; the front independent double-wishbone suspension has 6.3 inches of travel from the premium shock absorbers. The rear has a steel swingarm and gas charged rear shock absorber, these provide 6.3 inches of suspension travel. Also taking some of the rough terrain is a set of large-diameter tires, 24x8-12, 24x10-11 on the rear. Braking is not a problem either, the front has dual hydraulic disc brakes and the rear has sealed mechanical drum brakes to aid in burly stops.
Designed with the idea to be a work vehicle too, the Rancher has an optional waterproof accessory socket that provides 12-volt, 10-amp power with a built-in temperature-type fuse. The large cargo racks can carry 66 pounds of payload in the front and 133 in the pounds in rear. A heavy-duty trailer hitch has a 850-pound towing capacity. For those muddy days, specially designed floorboards allow a rider’s feet to grip the footrests in muddy or rough conditions.
Additional features for the recreational side of the Rancher include a thickly padded seat, under seat storage compartments and large fenders for mud protection. The twin-headlight system has 30-watt bulbs and feature a multireflector lenses for optimal light distribution. In the rear a combination LED stoplight and taillight is bright and easy to see, if following. For a little extra protection there is a full-length synthetic lower skidplate with integrated front brush guard and a keyed ignition for added security to keep the ATV yours.
