Ask the Editor: Hole In The Carb?
Dear ATVC: I have a 250cc Tao Tao and on the last ride my friend came back with it pouring fuel out of a hole in the carb- see hole above the gold screw? Anyone know if a screw dropped out and should be in this hole or is it something else? Alanrenouf
Thanks and Happy New Year!
We secured a photo of the 30mm carb that does the fuel and air mixing for the Tao Tao 250cc machines and it appears that vent hole is present right from the factory:
The main reason fuel pours out of any one of the vent ports or hoses of a carburetor is when the float inside becomes stuck in one position.
The following tutorial will demonstrate how to free up a stuck float. While this isn’t your machine’s make & model obviously, the principles of carburation do not vary from one vehicle to the next.
