Ask the Editors: Honda ATC250SX Exhaust Help
For starters, the 250SX used a very different exhaust routing than did the Big Red so while it’s tempting to give it a try considering how readily available Big Red exhaust systems are on the market, save your money as they will not fit without extensive modification.
Since the OEM stopped manufacturing this exhaust long ago and the aftermarket seems to be dwindling away as well, that leaves you with a couple of decent options as follows:
1) Used Complete
We did a quick eBay search and found several exhaust systems listed having been taken from used vehicles.

2) Used & Universal
Considering how abundant and affordable used head pipes are for your model on eBay, you may want to snag a used head pipe and pick up a brand new universal muffler to mate to it. Companies like DG offer one brand new for $76.99. Supertrapp also offers one for $80.10. -Just remember if going with Supertrapp to measure to determine if you need the 1 & 3/4″, 1 & 1/2″ or 1 & 1/4″ tailpipe diameter.
3) Full Universal
Perhaps this should be considered your best bet if all other options fail, companies like Kolpin do offer a brand new complete Universal 4-stroke Exhaust system for $155.66. How much modification or routing creativity will be required here, we can’t say for sure. They say the universal design fits most ATVs or UTVs with a four-stroke engine and that there is no need for cumbersome welding or vehicle modifications; all mounting hardware is included with easy to follow installation instructions.
