Ask the Editors: Snow Plow Help Needed

Dear ATVC: I recently bought a used Eagle ATV plow with a hand-lever to raise and lower the plow. I have it mounted on my 2002 Honda Foreman Rubicon 500 but must be missing something to actuate lifting and lowering the plow. The lever pushes the linkage, but nothing is attached to the plow itself. I don’t know what I’m missing. Please advise, and/or provide pictures of how my plow should look when properly and completely mounted. Thanks. Ben Freed

American Manufacturing/ Eagle has been making ATV plows for quite some time and, unfortunately, has updated the mounting hardware a few times throughout the years. As we aren’t certain to the exact hardware you’re working with, we can only provide a look at the most recent iteration:
Eagle_Hand_lift
While there are some small differences in generations, the principle remains the same and it sounds to us like you may be missing the rod (cable on the newer mounts) that runs from the initial linkage to the blade mount itself. While it’s true that nothing actually attaches to the plow, the motion of the lever should actuate the linkage, which in turn lifts or lowers the entire front assembly via this metal rod or steel cable.

You may want to contact whoever sold you the kit to inquire as to whether or not they included this critical piece of mounting hardware. If it has been lost, contact American Manufacturing directly for a replacement part here. Your last option would be to pick up an entire new mount kit, which we found on eBay for $109.
