LT230E

Dear ATVC: I have a 1987 Suzuki LT230E and I need to know the name of the cover behind the chain. The case saver and all is missing but the mag case is not cracked.. Thinking transmission cover but not really sure? I also need to buy that part if anyone can help.. Please my son can’t wait to ride this is his first quad. Troylee216

If we’re reading you correctly, you’re saying all you need is the chain guard? If this is the case, fear not, these broke often on all of the chain-driven the LT230s and not only is there an OEM replacement still available, there are even several aftermarket companies that make beefier versions to prevent a thrown chain from smashing the crankcase cover.
Schematic
Follow this link to the OEM schematic; you’re looking at # 26 (SP Engine Cover) which goes for $40. You may also wish to purchase the OEM mounting bolt (#27 6×30/ $1.57) while you’re at it.
Guard
If you’re looking for slightly beefier protection for a bit less coin, click here to check out one of the many aftermarket chain guard offerings available for the LT230 (# 34).

In either case the entire assembly is a simple bolt-on affair and will get your son in the saddle a few moments after it arrives.
