If forced to identify one good thing about the riding season coming to an end, we would have to say that that’s when the good deals start surfacing on new & used ATVs.
Each week we rummage around Sprocketlist.com in the hopes of finding some good deal on a pre-owned machine and this week’s entry takes us to a place called Okeana, OH.

According to the listing, the specimen in question happens to be a pretty rare machine; one we’ve only ever encountered once in the wild. It’s a 2005 Bombardier 4×4 Max Traxter 650 (Quest) 2-seater with a 1000 miles on the clock (138 hours).
The seller lists such perks as a completely rebuilt carburetor and new fuel lines, a front insulated cooler storage box with drain, Visco-lok Differential system, and a rear radiator cooling fan.
It’s listed as “excellent condition” and the ad’s poster is looking for $3000/ firm.

Dear ATVC:
I use my 2005 Polaris Sportsman 700 for hunting and love the camouflage motif for the application. Wondering if Polaris was the first ATV to come with this option.

Good question! The reason this one is a bit tricky to answer is that aftermarket plastics offered in green and brown tones have been available since the dawn of the ATV industry and there have always been crafty backyard engineers who made their own camo schemes with a few cans of spray paint.
However, the distinction of being the first OEM to offer factory camo bodywork belongs to Yamaha with their Buckmaster Edition Big Bear 400 4×4. The year was 2000.

Each week we rummage around SprocketList in the hopes of finding some good deal on a pre-owned machine and this week’s entry takes us to a place called Southhaven, MS.

According to the listing, this is a 2005 Yamaha Grizzly 660 that has been freshly built & runs great.
The poster goes on to say that everything works including, LCD display, 4-wheel drive, differential locks, lights, etc.
Of particular note are four Vampire tires with roughly 85-90% tread remaining.
The seller is looking for $2500 and isn’t currently entertaining trades.

Pop quiz: When you think of each of the major ATV manufacturers, a color should come to mind. With Honda that color is usually red, with Suzuki it’s yellow. Kawasaki sports green, KTM, orange and Yamaha = blue right? Not so fast.
With 2013 in full swing, you may actually find Yamaha dealership floors littered with utility models wearing shiny red plastics.

Yamaha Motor Corp USA is rounding out its utility ATV line with the addition of 2013 red utility ATVs produced at its Newnan, Georgia, manufacturing facility. Red versions of Yamaha’s popular utility ATV models should be arriving to dealers right now and include the Grizzly 700 FI EPS, Grizzly 550 FI EPS and Grizzly 450 EPS.
“Yamaha has strong demand from a variety of customer groups – including farmers and recreational users alike – for the red utility models, and we’ve seen our dealer partners ask for them this fall,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha ATV/SxS group marketing manager. “All of Yamaha’s 4×4 ATVs now come from its U.S. manufacturing facility in Georgia, which allows the company to respond more quickly to customer demands while also streamlining distribution. It’s exciting to see that process in place.”

All of Yamaha’s Grizzly 4×4 ATVs and Rhino Side-by-Side vehicles are produced at the Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation of America (YMMC) in Newnan, Georgia.
