EVS Brings Neck Protection to the Masses

Putting a Price on Safety
Most riders understand the basics and benefits of protective gear while riding: Helmets, gloves boots and so on. However the industry has recently undergone a revolution in the department of neck protection and with good reason. ATV riding and racing certainly demonstrates the old “a body in motion will remain in motion unless acted upon by an outside force” theory each and every time we take a digger.
Believe it or not, according to surveys, the leading reason many riders choose to go out without neck protection is the steep cost typically associated with purchasing the equipment. Leatt Brace has made quite a name for itself in this arena and more and more clothing/ gear companies are joining the fray each season but there are none that we’re aware of that manage to do it as cost effectively as EVS.
Enter the RC EVO Neck Brace, EVS’ latest race collar/ neck protector designed to target the leading cause of neck injury: Unrestricted motion of the neck during high impact situations. According to EVS it is instances where the head is pushed downward into the neck or when the neck is carried too far forward or from side to side where a majority of the trauma takes place. Of course a helmet can be of some use in these situations but the neck brace adds a crucial layer of protection by inhibiting the range of motion on the neck and offering a compression zone to absorb the impact of a downward-traveling helmet.
How does it Work?
Beginning with a Velcro closure system, the RC EVO places a ring of biofoam as close to the bottom edge of the helmet. The idea here is to offer a collapsible area to absorb impact.
Beneath the foam outer collar is the actual frame of the EVO itself; a blend of fiber and resin designed to take what shock that may have made it through the collapsible foam and to then distribute it over a wider surface area (over the shoulders).
Connecting the frame to your body is a series of soft, rubberized connectors that remain hidden when in use.
Finally the undercarriage consists of a contoured and mesh laden liner that flows air surprisingly well.
What about Chesty?
Like with a majority of the quality neck braces currently being offered, the RC EVO comes with the hookup accessories required to either run the unit in addition to or without a chest protector. We found that when coupled to the added benefits of a chest protector, the EVO delivers a very welcomed sense of security without sacrificing mobility.
Options
EVS understands that ours is sport overrun by style trends, fads and short-lived gimmicks so they go the extra mile to insure that riders don’t go out unprotected due to a lack of color or size options. Beginning with youth (small) the EVO is also available in medium, large, and extra large size. Colors come in your choice of black, blue, red, gray, and pink.
Perhaps the greatest feature of the EVS RC EVO (besides the simple fact that it works) is the MSRP: At 5, it comes in at even less than half the price of its closest competitor (and is a quarter of some of the pricier units available on the market today). The excuse that picking a neck brace up is too expensive is no longer going to fly. EVS realizes that the only way for their product to prove itself is by being worn and while we hope you never find yourself in a situation to test the limits of such equipment, making the price so reasonable assures that the protection will reach the masses.
