I think that is very wise. Not to say a model over a grand wouldn't serve many owners well, but in not exceeding the $1000 threshold, it's not the end of the world financially for you. Painful, but not life threatening.

Thanks for filling in the gap.... Glad you got it running and were able to sell it.
I hope you have a more reliable machine now.

Yep, some body directed me to this thread a couple of weeks ago when I posted I was considering one of the big Chinese 4x4 utility quads. What I read here hepled me make a final decision and I bought another Rancher. I'll bet nobody is riding an ATV these days that does not contain a part or two that was made in China. Don't fool yourself the Chinese manufactures could make a machine as good as any out there if that is what they wanted to do. But the truth is they could not do it cheap enough to sell very many of them if they did. So they cut corners and try to gain market share based on price alone. NO THANKS! The "cheap" chinese ATVs are a different story in my book. They are a good value because they are soooo cheap. I am still thinking about picking up a Vbike 250 utility for $1100.

from everything I read besides a 50cc that my son will learn on in the yard only I wouldnt touch one of these with a 10 foot pole.
Our free time is too important to be spent on anything other than what we want to do. I could not imagine loading my quad and having a boot blow out....
Not to say that my machine couldnt have an issue but I have rolled it once rear ended someone another time went through some water and mud that I shouldnt have and besides cleaning it and oil changes I have done "Nothing"
With finance rates and terms available why not spend the extra few dollars a month, 2000 dollars, 60 months @6.99% is 36 dollars.....
Do the math yourself:
Auto loan calculator - Bankrate.com

So my free time is worth an extra 2 grand or 36 dollars a month for peace of mind and trouble free ride time.

Since almost no one knows me I will share this to hopefully save someone some un-necessary grief.
Note this is a personal line of credit through GE credit and financed at my local dealer so I have no lien holder (this is very important)
If you have an accident your insurance company by law if you have a lien has to make out the check to you and the bank with no lien in the event of an accident I have the option to do the repair myself and save a ton of money. (just another pro tip from me to you)

I've owned my 2008 tank since 2009 now and I love it...a lot cheaper then name brands but just as good. I've used it for mud trails, plowing snow and towing things. It's only had a few issues but we're quick fixes. It's mostly stock with a 2,500# winch and a 5' plow.

Default If only I saw this sooner!

Let me update this thread to say that I just discovered, thanks to reading this long thread, that I am a new owner of one of these Jianshe 400's, 2008 I presume. I had purchased it as a Tank, the only identifiable letters from a picture, from an online auction. It was many lots I had bid on and won, for a whole $196. For the most part it looks all there except for the front rack and bumper assembly, one headlight, all turn signal lights, and the screws that hold the fro t fender on. I had no knowledge of what this thing was, how many CC's or anything, until I read this thread. Hopefully I have some luck with this investment, lol.
