250 caterra KMV quad 2007 cannot find a 7 pin cdi . so need to find a wiring diagram for cdi connections & test procedure.part #on CDI JT0704JP [4pin square male connector black,red,blue&green wires.And 3 wire female flat connector orange, black & black&white wires. What happened was a complete melt down of the wiring. I have a complete wiring harness, left handle bar control, ign swt,ign coil,stator coil.Only thing we could not get was cdi.Any where we could find a cdi for this Chinese Quad. And a test procedure for a cdi ."Help". Thanks!!

 

I've never seen a 7 pin CDI. So I'm not much help there.

How did the wiring harness burn up? The harness is supposed to be fused to prevent stuff like this. Where did you get a new harness?

I wonder if you can you get a wiring diagram from the above link if you ask them. A wiring diagram would be very helpful (as you already pointed out).

 

The remote/alarm, if it has or had one has about 7 different places to plug up stuff.

 

You know I hadn't thought of that ... But it doesn't add up after thinking about it. I've never seen a remote module on a 250cc machine (but I haven't seen a 7 wire CDI either!), plus I think this link shows a 7 wire CDI with colors that match as best I can tell with Harold51's post:

Try as I might I could not find any wiring diagrams out there that show how this CDI is hooked up .

 

Yeah, I know. Who would put anyone on a 250 that needed a remote.

Because it has new wiring, I was just trying to stir the imagination.

 

Hello Guys: Just a up date, Replaced the main wiring harness, left control swt, repaired ign swt. replaced burned out stator ,Made electrical checks of stator, shut down system,coil, trigger system all checked out Ok, Still points to a bad CDI . Have one coming from the Main land of China with frieght $60.00 I have a wiring diagram of the cdi which may help others in the future. Will let you Know when this Chinese Quad is running Thanks for the help Harodl51.

Hello Guys : Just a short note,7 Wire CDI arrived 03/01/11 from China. Changed over one 3 wire plug the other 4 wire was the same .Hit the start button, way she went.Another Chinese quad is running in British Columbia Canada again!! Thanks for the help!! harold51.

HI, i have just bought a Bashan BS300S-18 engine and after many hours work have fitted it to my quad chassis. I bought a new CDI for the engine that matches the description of the CDI in this post. Despite having a wiring diagram for the BS300S-18 quad, i'm having trouble working out which cable goes to where, i.e. the wiring diagrams wire colors don't match the actual colors on the CDI unit. Did you find a wiring diagram for the CDI and a safe way for testing it? Any help would be appreciated! i've already melted one CDI and don't want to wreck another!
