How to adjust Idle on Yamotto

I just recently put a new engine in my 05 Yamoto. I've tested it out and it runs pretty well. I adjusted the carb to the recommenced settings, and got it to idle but only for a few seconds before it turns off.

Is there another adjustment I should be trying???

Thanks
Drew

i reckon if you've adjusted the screw that's near the throttle spring on the side of the carb, i might lean towards your idle jet being plugged up or nearly plugged up. does it try to idle at really low RPMs or will it just not idle at all?

The fuel screw has a affect on the idle also.. most fuel screws are sticking out the bottom of the carb...

The fuel screw and the pilot jet work together from about idle to 1/4 throttle.. they control the fuel.. A larger pilot jet will need less turns out from seated when you set the fuel screw.. most fuel screws are set at 1 1/2 turns out from seated...if it runs best at less than 1/2 turn out from seated.. you need a smaller pilot jet.. any more than 2 1/2 turns out from seated and you need a larger pilot jet... but to be honest if it runs best at 3 turns out and its from China... Id be happy and leave it there..

This is only for 4 strokes..

On a 2 stroke its a air screw(not a FUEL screw) and everything I said is the opposite for it..except that it is good for idle to about 1/4 throttle.

We found the Fuel Screw and it is very difficult to reach. Is there a special tool? We tried using a long set of needle nose pliers but it does not work very well.

if it's up underneath towards the front like others i've seen, you can use a flexible 1/4" drive extension with a 1/4" socket to drive a screwdriver bit to reach it. i've done that before.

I have used needle nose pliers... the side of a screw driver... and have even taken the carb off made the adjustment and put it back on...

Jaster94 has a good idea...
