125cc jetmoto running rough and burning
Hello, all
My Daughter was out riding her 125cc jetmoto in the mud out back, I washed it after and put it in the shed. The next time I went to start it, it turns over but no spark. I started looking around and find that the voltage regulator is burn. I order one off of Ebay and put it in. Now I have spark on the plug with it out again motor, put it in and quad still won’t fire. After a while of messing with it, the atv finally started but is spitting and sputtering. The only way will stay running is with the idle turned all the way up. While running sputtering it smells like something is burning and the jug/head of the motor is smoking. I then noticed that the fuel filter is leaking onto to the head, this might explain the smoke, but why is it running rough?
Is the voltage regulator bad that I bought?
Does the voltage regulator even matter to the motor running rough?
Some else is fried other than that?

The old regulator could have damaged the electronics before it blew, but try cleaning the carb out before going further as water could have got in when you washed it. If that doesn't work, check the new regulator is working properly by putting a voltmeter onto the battery, 13v to 15v with the engine running is the correct reading.

Could be the leaky fuel filter as well sucking in air.. Fix that get it started and take it for a burn around the back yard for 5-10min to get everything good and hot. you may still have water sitting some ware in a connection. I learned very quickly watch how you wash these things all the electronics are in the worst possible places.
