I got this quad given to me, I know i am missing parts for the ignition, and a relay.

is some of the ignition parts, where the recoil starter is?

I forgot to grab some pictures, I will do that when I am at my shop next.

Now where the heck do I find parts for this quad, and how do I find out it's model?

the quad looks like a Baja 400.

 

There are a lot of parts that'll interchange from brand to brand. Similar to gmc to Pontiac to Chevy or ford to Mercury. We have a local shop where I take parts in and match it to their parts on the shelf or I just buy eBay parts. Then there are plenty of sun L parts websites, just do a search and you'll find reputable dealers to buy from

I am good with cars, but ATV's are a new one. I have no spark, but I am trying to make sure I have everything.

It was in pieces when I got it.

 

Sounds like your safety interlocks are in place if you can crank it, have you replaced the spark plug with a NGK? Once in a while that'll do it. Have you tested the coil output?

Thank you for the link. but I think i need the stator. I will dig in the quad a bit more, see if it there or not.

I cannot find the relay, that should be in the back. it's got two RED 14-16G wires one green 22g, one black 22g. I am not sure what it's for.

Yeah, that could be multiple items like stator output harness or starter solenoid (relay) wiring, hmmm, I'll do some more digging. As far as off brands, I only got hensim and eton for now, but let me do some more looking

 

HECK YA, we have spark. found the problem. the other guy ran the wires under the engine, and one connector was plug in, but not clicked in.

I have no clue what the mystery plugs are for, or the relay plug. going to get gas and see if I can fire this bad boy up.

how to tell if it's a push butten 4x4 or a shifter type. I have nothing, for the 4x4 system. (shifter wise.)

 

There ought to be some wiring headed to the gearbox like my project quad polaris sportsman 4x4, unless it is full time 4x4

 

Heck ya, it runs. downside the oil cooler line is damaged, going to fix that soon I hope. Sounds good.

all four hubs need to be repaired, the holes for the studs are worn.(not too bad. going to weld the studs, on. I think.)

Gas tank leaks at the valve, new seal or valve. I have a old Yamaha 80 tank I will use for now.

one thing at a time. I would love to know what the extra, plugs are for. However everything I need, works.
