If you can download a parts manual, just do an eBay search for that part#. I have always been able to find used parts for my old Arctic Cats. Even the 16 year old one, 99% of the time I can find new parts from the dealer. If you have a Chinese model, it's going to be much harder, but they tend to be copies of Japanese models, might be able to find a Honda or Yamaha part to substitute.

I am specifically looking for engines where the starter is on the bottom of the engine guys, any clues as to where would be great.

Default the polaris 400l 2 stroke has the starter on the bottom

I have recently seen a 400l with a complete fresh rebuild on ebay for $1k.
seems like alot of money until you see what it costs to have one professionally rebuilt. These have alot of power vs a 4stroke of the same displacement.
hth as you didnt give many requirement spec's, only that the starter should be on the bottom.

be cheaper and lot less work to find a running ATV..us Chinese ATV owners must like banging our heads aganist the wall. these POS ATVs are almost a waste of time.but there Cheap.last month i bought a faded non running 98 Honda 300 FOurtrax with a blade and winch..for $800 got it running.spent $250 on it. and sold it for $2500
last week i got a hardly used 2008 Chinese Unison 250 rage for free . spent $120 for battery, oil gas, fuel line and starter solenoid..and rear master brake cylinder. runs great..cant even get $900 for it. ? it is a lot of fun to ride..so will just ride it.till i sell it. or trade for a name brand ATV needing work. ya cant go wrong with a Old Honda..get parts even if its 30 yrs old. cant get much for these Chinese POS ATVs LOL
