Default lem starting

Today, a hot and humid day in Ontario but ideal for a run with the 50cc Lem for my grandson. Started well and he had a great time until after a minute or 2 break, he was unable to start the machine. We added gas as we thought that could be the issue but still no luck. He did run through a lttle water on the gravel road but I would not think that a serius issue. We thought maybe we flooded it but still it should have started eventually. Any thoughts.

I'd start with cleaning the carb.

Pull the air filter off and make sure its not wet. Unfortunately these little machines do not like puddles. you go to fast and it sprays the carb and all electronics. I have had the cdi get fried and the air filter get soaked.

Thanks Scootergptx for putting this in the right spot. Still learning how to navigate around this site.
Thanks also to LT80 & Zrocknfor the advice. I will start there. I am going to have to find a good manual.

Success. Cleaned a very dirty filter and after some effort was able to remove and clean the spark plug. Seems to running fine.

Default more problems

Well things were going fine when the machine decided to quit. I have tried starting for about a week with no luck. I checked the plug. It seems to be getting fuel. I removed the plug and connected a wire from the threads to the engine block. There was no spark when I turned it over. I looked at the brushes. I see that they are worn so maybe the contact there is not adequate. I must say that the harnes has been taped in a number of places so ample possabilities there. Someone said maybe the coil is shot. Lots to think about.

Anyone have other thoughts or suggestions?
