Arctic Cat Vs. Can Am
Hello All,
I am real close to buying a new machine and want to buy another 2 up ATV. I have owned the Outty Max a few years ago and liked it. My local dealer also sells Arctic cat and they are sharp looking quads. I would love to hear some feed back on what you guys think comparing the 2 seater Arctic Cats to the Can-Am's. I always hear great things about the New Can Am although over heating and burning your legs seems to be a common complaint. I never hear much about AC in the ATV world. Do they offer power steering. Give me your opinion if you have one about this comparison. Thanks!

I don't own a two up ATV, but I do own both an Arctic Cat and a Can Am. Thus far the Can Am ATVs are more reliable, with no problems in a total of 1300 miles. The Arctic Cat only has 177 miles on it so far, and blew a CVT belt at 104 miles.
In general they are both very capable ATVs, but they are totally different, like comparing a 1970s Ford 4x4 pickup truck to a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. They're both 4x4s, but what a difference between the two machines. The Arctic Cat is the truck, and the Can Am is the hot rod Jeep. The Can Am is so much smoother and more refined than the Arctic Cat that there is no comparison between the two. Depending on what you are after one of these may be much better than the other. Ride them both and you decide.

pick up the latest atvmagazine they did a 2 up challenge comparison. Can-am got 1st place by 5/6 people, arctic cat got 2nd, and polaris got last. If I had the money I would definately buy a can-am, they seem to be better in every way really. Pick up the mag for an in depth review and all the information you are looking for to make your choice.

Also the real heat problem with the Can-Am seems to be the 800, anything less then that and youre much better off. the 650 is the most powerful ATV under 800ccs and I would definitely recommend that. As a long time Arctic Cat owner I can tell you I have been let down many times sadly. Bad CVT exhaust location, bad intake snorkel on the newer ATVs if you go hear first into deep mud, hardest seat of any ATV, no power steering and without it the steering is not very light at all. unless you get a 2010 the diff lock is a joke to use, the side heat panels are awesome though.

The dealer in my area said there was no difference in them (Thundercat 1000)
