Looking to buy a Arctic Cat, need advice
Hey,
I am looking to buy a Arctic Cat 650 atv around a '06 model. I know there are 2 different 650 engines available in this model. I know the H1 is the single cyl and the v2 is a 2 cyl. I have read some reviews and found that some people do not like the H1. Can anyone give me the pros and cons of these 2 engines? I really want to try a Arctic Cat (have a 98 grizzly now) but i want to know i'll be happy with the engine it has.
Thanks

The 650 H1 has the same wet clutch set up as the Yamaha's. The 650 V-2 has a Kawasaki motor and a spin and grab clutch like the Polaris has. I think it depends on what kind of riding you prefer. The H1 is better suited for slow going, rock crawling, low end torque or mud bogging. The 650 V2 is much faster and tends to be better at high speed trail riding. I owned an 04 and 05 V-2 and they were reliable but 80% of my riding is in very rough terrain and I did not like the clutch set up on the V-2. The constant clicking in and out of the engine brake actuator, drove me crazy on rough, rock crawling trails.
I have an 07 700 EFI with the wet clutch set up and I like it MUCH better for my type of riding. My 05 650 was 20 mph faster on top end but the older I get, the less "Need for Speed".

run to honda. have 6 artic cats for rentals and have all kinds of trouble. the units with suz, kaw motors do not have any motor trouble, but the rest bolted to the motor is junk. have 8 hondas and never never are they not rentable. the only thing that stops the honda is a wreck, and with in days parts are shipped to the front door. I have had one artic cat down for 62 days no clutch parts? I want to buy american, but i need to stay in buss. Personal hunting hondas 10 years old and run like rolex, and they are ran HARD. If it aint red leave it in the shed.

intresting. I have had 3 cats, a 99 300,2002 500,and now an 08 700. Never one problem, the 500 had about 4,000 miles on it and has been in the mud every ride we went on. now my 700 will probably never see a bunch of mud, just b/c i want it clean for the hunting seasons and i'm tired cleaning it. sorry about your problems.

love my cat
i was not a cat fan but i picked up a 08 700 efi with the zuk engine and i love it. im a honda fan also but i would not drop over $7000 on a machine with no diff lock, drum brakes and now days belts are the only way to go. they are proven to be dependable. the honda guys always talk smack about the belts but never about the problems with the electric shift. with that said i would buy a honda over any other brand besides the cat i happened to fall in love with on the show room floor.
