Buying a 2003 Arctic Cat 400 4x4
I'm looking at a 2003 Arctic CXat 400 4x4 auto which appears to be in great shape. They want $2500 CDN which is like 1900$ US. Anyway it has about 2700 miles and the only issue is that it need a master cylinder. My question is can anyone give me some advice on what to look for on these atv's? What issues do these bikes have? How can I ensure the transmission is ok? Any advice at all. Thanks
Oh yeah, this bike has the digital display, i didnt think they had them till 2004?

is it an auto or a manual? If its a manual, you really shouldnt have an issue there, unless they used an oil not suitable for wet clutches. Im sure its fine though. if its an auto, then you still really dont have anything to worry about. if the bike was used under normal conditions the belt should be fine. ive heard of belts lasting well over 6,000 miles with normal use. The brake issue could be a problem though. i just got rid of my 02 500 b/c its had the master cylinder replaced 7 times(under warranty and not under warranty) and stiil wouldnt work correctly. i even went to a 2007 model brake. Well, its not the main reason i got rid of it,but it was a problem. other than that, the bike should be a pretty nice ride. Its used so there can always be something wrong that you cant see but for the most part they are pretty reliable. Ive had 3 arctic cats,a 99 300,a 2002 500 and now an 08 700 and ive never been left on a trail calling for help. in fact ive never had a major problem unless it was my fault(broken axle and ive drowned it out). good luck in your purchase and welcome the forum.
