’06 Arctic Cat ATV (Auto) rides rough - can this be changed?
Greetings! My neighbor has a 2006 Arctic Cat 500 (Auto) with 600 mi and it is a great machine but we cannot seem to smooth out the ride. Rider weight is about 180-200 lbs and we have softened everything to start, but the front was diving too much so we set it to the middle out of the 5 notch adjustments on the front shocks and this works great. The back is set on the softest setting and it still takes a toll on you when riding rougher trails. Other guys in our group ride ’04 & ’05 Polaris 400, 500 & 700 Sportsmans, ’04 Honda Rincon, ’05 Honda Foreman and ’03 Kawasaki 650 Prairie (straight axel) and they all seem to ride smoother than the Arctic Cat. Is there an after-market shock we can use to soften this up or is there any other idea that you might have?? Thanks for your help!

your pressure is good...had to check the basics first.
There are several aftermarket shock makers, but they are VERY expensive. I have run racing shocks on my sport quads and they make a BIG difference, but buying them was a shot in the wallet for sure.
Every now and again Dirtwheels runs articles on shock companys that will refit stock shocks to better suit particular needs, and do so at a reasonable price.
Best answer I can give is to google "ATV shock manufacturers" or something similar, or pick up an ATV mag like Dirtwheels and see who is listed in their ads or advertisers list, and then start emailing/calling to see what they can do for you
