Default 2002 AC 300 4X4 Sputtering

Hi guys I seem to find a lot of info on my problem but no one says whether they solved it or not. Here goes. I got this quad that had been submerged up to about the seat. The air box intake boots were cracked and it filled the carb, engine died. I replaced the broken boots, checked for cracks in the engine to carb boot, completely cleaned the carb more times than I care to count, drained the tank and filled with fresh fuel with sea foam, replaced the VR, swapped the CDI with a known good one, new plug, changed oil, checked valve adjustment, I think that is all.

The problem is that it wont rev up off idle slowly. It will idle fine and if I peg it to wide open it is fine. If I put it in gear and want to slowly move it, it will spit and sputter and eventually die.

The spark plug is about black which I know is running rich, but no adjustment of the pilot screw makes any difference. I am at a loss on the one...

Anyone have any suggestions? I got a hold of another 300 quad (quad B) that ran good and swapped the carbs. Quad B ran like crap with the other carb on it and the original quad ran great with Quad B's carb on it so I have it nailed down to being the carb but do not know exactly what to look for... Like I stated I have gone through it several times and set everything to factory specs. What might I be overlooking???

Shouldn't have to go into a carb but once if you install a rebuild kit. If that doesn't solve the problem, move onto something else. At least you can eliminate the carb as the problem.http://www.ebay.com/itm/CARB-REBUILD-REPAIR-KIT-ARCTIC-CAT-300-2X4-2001-2002-2003-4X4-01-02-03-04-05-/371063485919?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item56651b75df&vxp=mtr

ya could be a pc of crap stuck some ware in the carb your missing or one of the gaskets are bad from tearing town. One thing i do when working on any carb is put a super thin smear of silicon on bot gasket mating surfaces just to make sure everything seals properly. Never had a issue when i do this. Are you sure you got the little c clip on the right slot in the needle?

Just as an update. I bit the bullet and bought a new carb. Installed it and the quad runs great. I don't know what was stuck in the old one but I got sick of trying to get it cleaned out. The only thing I could come up with was maybe it was sitting with water in it too long and something in the carb corroded and I couldn't get it out.

I know I'm very late to the party, but if you still have the old carb and if its the same as my 05 300 then you probably did what i did while cleaning it. the needle going down from diaphragm sits in a very tiny aluminum fitting that is inserted into the bottom of carb as the needle seat or whatever its called. if you cleaned the carb you lost this part causing it to run like its choked. It is no where on the schematic and after 6 or so times cleaning carb and buying all new jets, i paid $100 for a shop to tell me I blew this tiny ring out. Im pretty sure you did the same. I was getting very frustrated and even felt like rolling it into a lake as i previously read but i didn't.

Maybe fix the old carb and make a few bucks if it works, if not hopefully someone else can use this info.

I think you are referring to the needle jet. Yes, many folks have lost these while cleaning, some fit more tightly than others, and I have seen some simply fall right out. I have added to this thread and your post simply for the reason that it may help someone in the future. If needle jet is missing, the symptoms are a very very rich running engine. I have seen them installed backwards as well.
