Actic Cat Alterra 400 Question
Hello, I have an opportunity and need help making a decision.
A famil member purchased a 2016 Arctic cat Alterra 400 for about $6000 at a dealer. It was to be used for business but long story short it took them 60 days to realize it wasnt the right solution and they purchased a UTV.
They have had the ATV listed for sale in a state where no one uses them due to lack of places to ride them. I live in Georgia where there are plenty of trails, etc.
So I have the chance to buy it for $3,500 with about 5 hours of use on it.
I have some questions.
-This seems like an entry level ATV. I mean I have kids and am not an advanced rider but is it something I will outgrow quickly?
-Do these things sell at retail? Am I getting a good deal? Or about what is expected?
Any other info would be helpful!
Thanks.

You should ride it. I've heard they ride and handle nice. They are basically a Kymco, which is a decent bike. You should also look at the new AC's and Kymcos. AC has a new 700 that is priced at $5,995. I don't think a 400 is entry level, I love my Arctic Cat 400, it's a zippy, fun bike. BTW a 400 is still pretty fast for kids, you may need to set the governor. My 400 tops out over 55 mph.

They go for much less than $6000 around here new, in the $4500 range. My local dealer had a 450 new for $4499. Still, one that is basically new for $3500 is a deal. Its a mid-sized atv. Its bigger than the smaller 250 and 300 cc machines but smaller than the 500cc and up machines. You're not going to outgrow it. Its a machine that will probably top out at around 50 mph, more than fast enough for most.
