No it didnt work the site said it was a lighting coil but it was the ignition coil so no help to me. I did recently pick up a great running 200 and a parts trike havent had time to move stuff around yet but im gunna swap out parts to find out what it is. Ill be sure to let you know what i find out cuz i know its fustrating. I think its more fun riding at night but kinda hard to do without a headlight

Thanks, I appreciate it. I'll keep searching for a fix too. The magneto on my was replaced, I wonder if was not the right one if that would have any effect. Is your magneto still original?

Ok So I got a Clymer Manual...

Well the ATC200ES is the only ATC that had an actual Voltage Regulator.

Your 83 ATC 200m and my 83 ATC 185s have alternators with Stator Assembly's.

In the line of the Stator assembly there is a module that regulates voltage.

It seams like the best bet is to either replace the Stator Assembly, or instal an after market 12 voltage regulator and place it between the line coming out of the stator assembly and the lighting system.

You will need a fly wheel puller to get access to the Stator.

Quote from the Clymer manual:

"Alternator (ATC 185, ATC 185s, ATC 200, & ATC 200s) The alternator generates electricity for the ignition system and lighting system. Two coils are attached to the stator plate. One coil generates primary system current for the ignition coil. The other coil generates alternating current for the lighting system."

Hope this helps.
