Default 110 carb issue

this is from my newly purchased 110. Took the carb apart, cleaned everything and when I tried to put the float back on, the needle seems to be too long since the float is sitting too low (see pic below.....float arm is just touching needle). Per manual the space between the carb body and float should be only 10 mm. Mine is probably double that. It just does not look right and feel right. These plactic floats are not adjustable. See other pic regarding the condition of the needle. Its missing a piece on top.

Am I in the right track here? Any thoughts ?

So I went ahead and ordered a carb kit off eBay.

By the way the carb was really dirty -- it had stuff in there that looked like little fish eggs.

The needle should slide into a slot on the float. if you take the float out and turn it over the needle slides in. then you should be at 10mm. however a new kit for that wouldn't hurt.

Got a new carb kit, put the new needle in but the float seems to be sitting to low. When I put the bowl back on, it just does not feel right the way the float is sitting inside. I really have to put pressure on the bowl to make it seal right on the carb. The float arm is just touching the needle (same situation as the picture show above)

I bought the new carb kit thinking the old needle was the wrong one but I'm back where I started from. I don't see how the float is able to move up and down inside the bowl --- seems very tight in there. What am I doing wrong here? I've worked on a bunch of old garden tractor carbs but this ATC got me scratching my head. I'm hoping its something really simple to get this to work. PLease help. thanks

Any thoughts? Pls advise.

You have it together wrong. The float is upside down in your photo. The float valve (thing you call the needle) slides into the slot on top of float. That float valve you have pictured is garbage too.
