Default Air Filter Question

This may be a no brainer for some people, but just curious..... I just ordered an air filter for my atc 200s but havent got it yet. The trike runs without it, just open carb, but only runs in the choke position, as soon as I even touch the lever to open the butterfly valve the trike shuts down. Could this be because there is no air filter on the carb??? The trike runs almost fine in choke mode, I can even ride it. Tried all sorts of adjustments on the carb and throttle position. Hoping that when I get my filter it will rectify this issue. Any thoughts?????????

It won't make that much of a difference sounds like you need to take the carb. apart and clean it

Usually the only running on choke problem is because of a clogged pilot jet. Did you take the jets out and clean real good ( run a piece of wire through them )? The pliot jet is the one with the holes side to side in it. I and many others have cleaned them but not enough only to have it run just on choke again cause the holes are so small may need to just go buy a new jet for 5.00.

Thanks, I will try cleaning that again. I did clean that jet and remember all the little holes in it. Do the holes only go side to side? or is there one that goes straight through from where the slot is for the screw driver all the way up through? I didnt think so because I couldnt put a wire through it that way just through the little holes and I also could blow through the end hole and air would come out the side holes. Will try again.

Yep there is one that goes up the length of it, try working a fine wire up through it. If that one is clogged than it won't run off choke. If that hole is clogged than it can't pickup fuel from the bowl to go out the side to side holes.
