So I got this bike in a basket and after I got it back together I got something wrong and it doesn't shift properly. Had a shop look at it and they screwed me over and didn't fix anything. It's a 85 Yamaha tri-Moto 225DR a buddy of mine has a tri Moto 185 motor. My question is....is the bottom end and transmission the same on the 185cc an the 225cc. Thanks for your help.

 

Not sure if this is a really stupid question or maybe nobody knows because the smart thing would have been to get a 200x but its my curse to think out side of the box and go against what everybody else has. But at this point I've got too much $ into it to try and sell. Plus it's a really clean bike. So if anyone knows where I can find this info it would be apreciated.

 

didnt know yamaha made a 185? i wouldn't downgrade, look for a 250 timberwolf or bear tracker....takes a little bit of work to get the carb to fit right but worth it. i put a 2002 beartracker motor in mine. you will need the whole harness for the BT motor..the 200e/er 225 dr/x and timberwolf/beartracker all have the same base and bolt right in. only diff is the carbs and bigger heads...the TW and Bt have longer universals that have to be swapped.
