That artice even states that the 250SX is only ment for trail ridin fun...BUY A 200X or 250R for speed and racing. and, that article states it tops at 50mph, I belive it, I got smoked my a 350X and the 350X was in 5th gear...

I own two 85 200x's and a 85 250sx. The 250sx has a factory speedometer. I have had it at about 57 once. My stock 200x can not pull away at all from the 250sx when both are toped out. The 200X is "quicker" than the 250sx. My ported 200X on the other hand makes 350x's look bad.

By the way there is NO other trike better for long distance wheelies than a 250sx!

I'm just glad to see that everyone loves their bikes enough to brag about them. I love my SX for what it's intended for...wheelies? It is the king of wheelies. Actually it's a great bike. If I want to go fast, I ride one of my R's, but the SX is just plain fun to ride! You guys should focus on the golfcarts you beat in races, not other threewheelers. Cheers!

Most of you seem to underestimate the 250sx. I road a motorcycle beside one years ago and we were doing almost 60. 55 should be easy for any sx that is in decent shape. The 300 fourtrax is based on the sx/bigred/250fourtrax engine. My 99 4x4 300 will do over 50 with gators. I'm sure a 250sx would smoke it. Stock for stock I have to agree with Knows and say that the 83-85 200x would be close to the 250sx.

45mph???? please!!! my old 79 110 would hit 45.

And who doesn't like electric start and reverse?

These are good things.

Trail test....200x vs 250sx

After five day's of trail riding the trikes, I noticed major differences in the handleing, power, and breaking between the 200x and 250sx.
They are both in good shape and run well. All the maintance is good. Originally I only road the sx around locally. The initail impression's of it wernt good. Seemed like it was too quad like, just a plush ride and not too sporty.
I was able to put it threw some major paces on vacation n the mountains, and boy it changed my mind. The 250sx was very good to me on the agressive trail systems. The engine pulled nice and could lug and rev like a champ. The engine is dead smooth with no vibration, that was nice after logging lot's of hours. The biggest surprise was the breaking chariteristics. The drum brakes were allways more the attiquit. They never put me in a bind. I used them alot and was very glad they worked so well in the situations I got into.
I have gained alot of respect for the sx as a sport trike. The trails varied in type and style. The sx did awsome on all, I just needed seat time to be able to be comfortable with it. There were some things that I didnt like with the sx. Some could be addessed if needed i'm sure. One is that the shifter was wrong for me. After gear changing thouseds of times and needing presice changes, it just wasnt there. The trans was flawless but just need to modify the lever for good foot placement. The next was a painfull problem. The fuel tank being so wide and made of steel.I got eight inch round bruises on inside of both knees after two days. It was sure nice to ride the yamaha 225dx on the last day, that thing is sweet. I ended up wearing fox knee pads anytime I rode the sx to pad the tank. Seems like a cheap fix. The last thing was the trackability. All the trails were quad rutted, I love it. I dont mind it at all, it adds to the challange. I tried alot of driving styles with the sx. I could never get it to turn left and steer right well. It will but not easily. It seemed to love to have the front tire light, alots of throttle would help no matter where. It would also be very comfortable where ever the front tire was. I would just point it where ever and it stuck great. The only problem was it didnt like it on the inside of a turn....hmmm
The 200x was used daily also. This is my trike and i'm very used to it. The trike seems to vibrate more than the sx, the pegs are more uncomfortable than the rubberize sx's also. Small thing's seem to add up after time and also being 40 something. Also the seat wears thin compared.
But that being said, I sure love the 200x. The fun comes with the ability to steer in one direction while going the other. I love to put the front tire in say the left rut on a left uphill turn. Then lighting up the rear tiers just enough to go sideways enabling you to turn right and go left. Just to much fun. The 200x is a trike riders trike. Dont try to just sit on it. The lil thing needs alot of body positioning to fly. It will do amazing things when rode with major body engilish. Heck , anything from swooping off-chamber hills, avoiding trail obsticals like stumps/rocks, flying over rut's and bumps, can be a snap with this trike. Just prepare to be all over the thing. I saw the headlight lens, front lug nuts and handlebar ends than ever before, but it sure likes it. Also me losing 30 lbs helped lots.
Ego's like narrow tank, exellent lever placement, and overall lightness are great. Power is fine. I bet a 6 speed would be nice. It has a twist throttle and worked great.
The 200x suffered compared to the sx when logs crossed the trial. The sx auto-clutch and super low 1st gear were awsome.
After riding both hundeds of mile's over a week on groomed agressive trails systems I gained new repect for the sx. Was it enough to take it next time and not the 200x? .Nope. I'll still take the 200x over the sx. But the gap has shrunk...

My friend had a Suzuki 4 wheeler. Me and him dragged. i was on my 86 250SX. His speedo goes to 60. He had it pinned when i pulled away from him. So yes the 250SX can handle past 60mph.

Long live TRIKEIN'

Come on drummer, the 185's would do over 50 and they were no match for the 250sx stock for stock.

?What have you got against the 250sx?
