Default No idle on honda 85 200s...Please Help!!!

Ok,

I just recently bought a 1985 Honda 200s. It ran good for the first 3 days. But now it wont idle. I have adjusted the idle screw and the needle. When I let off the gas it just dies. So i have to start it with the gas pushed in about 1/2 way to get it started. It also started backfireing. Now im not sure what to do. PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks,

agree with above - most likely a carb problem -
I would try cleaning the carb - it's easy and has a good chance
of fixing the problem. Good chance you have clogged jets or
something else gunked up in there. Just tear it down, clean
it with carb cleaner, and put it back together again. Be sure to
get all the little orifices cleared out, including the one through
the top of the jets. I use a little piece of wire ( very fine, like a single
strand from lamp cord or speaker wire ).

ALso, if the trike was sitting a while, varnish in the carb is likely.
Or, since it was working, you might have a piece of rust or something
in the tank that found it's way to the carb. After you clean the carb,
you might want to buy a cheap little lawnmower fuel filter, and put
it in the fuel line between the tank and the carb - it will keep crap
from getting into the carb again.

Your idle mixture screw ( the little one on the bottom of the carb)
should be aorund 2 turns out from seated ( turn it all the way in,
then back at about 2 turns ). The spring loaded screw on the side
of the carb is just idle speed, not mixture. It just controls how
far the slide is held open when the throttle is released.
