Default Which Chinese ATV is Good?

I would like to buy a 200, 250, or 300 sport/utility quad for myself. I don't want to shell out $4000+ for a new or used atv and I am considering one of these ATVs from China. I hear mixed reviews on them. Kazuma, Yomoto, Jetmoto, Roketa, and SunL are just a few. I've heard some good reviews about Roketa, but for under $2000 are these things even worth the money? I hear buyers who purchase ATVs from China require good mechanical skills because you no doubt will be repairing them more frequently than their Japan competition. I am handy with a wrench, but I am no pro quad mechanic. I'm not planning on beating the heck outta this ATV, but I'd still like an ATV that can handle some bumpy trails and decent jumps. I'll be riding in Florida, so it'll see some sand, dirt, and mud along with intense summer heat. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Buyer beware! My friends who have bought these brands have lived to regret it. You will spend all your time fixing things, instead of riding. If you want a superb machine in the 200-300 class, get a trouble free, indestructible Honda 250EX. You will be able to ride instead of wrench!

Sounds like you vote NO on China atv. If not a New China atv, what would u recommend for a Used Japan brand? I think I'd like a utility atv with shaft drive and a 250 to 350 motor. Which website or magazine has a decent selection of used ATVs?

If you want a ute type machine, then the Honda Recon 250 (avoid the ES) which is very similar to the 250EX I mentioned above. Reliable, time tested, shaft drive design, and a kick to ride! Should be some used ones around.........

Thanks for the advice. I know Honda makes a good atv and they hold their value, unfortunately most of the used ones I find are priced almost as high as the new ones. I'll keep searching. Maybe I'll find someone desperate for a sale who'll unload their atv cheap.

Hey V2Rider,
What's Minnesota terrain like for riding? I've riden in MA, NC, and FL but that's it. Are u into sport quads or more utility atvs? I'd actually like a sport atv that has racks on it for hauling stuff when u need it. Launching off jumps is cool, but so is hauling some gear for the ride (ie. camping crap or beer). U know what I'm saying?
