I'm upgrading from an auto Jetmoto 150. need more speed and size. I've got my eye on two 250cc 5 speeds: BMS-250 and or the Viva ATV250apache baja raptor. What do u people think? Any suggestions on any other good quality China made clone's? thanx. JAH

 

If you liked your Jetmoto, they are supposed to be releasing a 250 adult sized quad soon, if it isn't already out.

 

I found this cool one on ebay that looks like a YFZ450. It looks really nice. 250cc liquid cooled 4-stroke 5-speed with reverse.

There are no "good quality China made" ATVs. Get a 250EX and save yourself the trouble.

 

I agree with ajd187 save yourself the headaches get a new or used TRX250EX or the LTZ250.

I am doing the exact same thing, upgrading from a BMS 150. I'm going to purchase a new TRX250EX for my daughter in the next week or two.

I have had a few issues with my BMS, but I have never had any problems getting parts from them. They always had the parts I needed in stock. If you do decide on the BMS post pics and let us know how long it takes you to break something. The Viva quads I would have no clue about.

One more thing to consider is since your in Cali. make sure your Chinese quad is CARB approved for a Green Sticker.

I will be getting a preproduction Adult sized 250 Sport Quad from Jetmoto for testing in the next couple of weeks. It will be flogged by myself and my 2 sons. If it doesnt perform well you will all read about it here. Then I will fix the problems and they will try again. Eugene(jetmoto president) is pretty optomistic about this quad, Im a little concerned about it being able to take a pounding. We will see........ The 250 is already green sticker approved in ca or I wouldnt be able to test it.

If money is that tight look for a leftover. Maybe look for a used one. You should be able to find an '04 model for cheaper than those Chinese ones are new. For a fact, those little 250's from Honda/Suzuki/etc are tough and will stand up to DECADES of use.

 

How about the Yamaha raptor 350?

 

I will check these out closer this weekend and give you my opinion later. I dont have a lot of time at work.

One thing I noticed was the Viva Extreme seems like a mid sized quad.
