Sports quad with automatic transmission
I am looking for an atv for my wife. I have a Honda 400EX and she likes the way that it handles much better than the 4X4 she had ridden previously (Suzuki Eiger) She on the other hand is not very good with the manual transmission. Especially on trails.
Someone had a 325 Polaris Trailboss and she loved it. So I figured that is what I would get her. I was talking to a guy at work about it and he advised me not to get a Polaris. He said they were money pits. It kind of freaked me out and I have done a lot of homework and I am worried about the 4 stroke Polaris not having enough power or the 2 stroke having top end problems. Is there another option without spending a lot of money or am I overthinking?
thanks , Sean

People who put down Polaris are usually people who never owned one. Once in awhile they make a lemon but all the rest are okay. You could say the same about any brand. Buy whatever you want and know that it's probably going to be okay. If I didn't buy a Polaris I would get a Yamaha because they're known to be a high quality brand. I saw one of them that was a piece of crap too but I don't judge them all by that one.

There really is no sport ATV with belt CVT.
Even the so called sport ATVs like the Renegade and new Scrambler are just the Utility Outlander and XP with sporty plastic.
If she wants CVT auto but with better handling and ride she could get another mid size Utility but with much better suspension then her 400 Eiger/KQ. Like a 450 Grizzly or 400 Outlander.
Just take the racks and bumper off if she wants a more sporty look.
The last CVT sporty ATV was the 2wd Polaris 400 Sport, The 2wd 400 Scrambler.
The 450 Wolverine is also discontinued but that was a 4x4 only
Even a 2wd 400 Eiger/KQ would feel lighter, nimbler then her 4x4 version.

If you're looking at used ones, assuming you're looking the 325 Trail Boss, you many want to look at some of the 250 or 400 Trail Blazers. I had the 325 and got my wife the 250. She liked it a lot more than the Boss. 2006 and before were 2 strokes, so if a performance boost is desired, they can be made to run pretty good.
Also, the Honda 250ex and the Suziki ltz 250 were manuals, but also allowed clutch free shifting. On those models, they are shaft drive vs chain drive on the Polaris.
