New ATV purchase
Hello everyone, new to the site. Looking at buying a new ATV. I have never owned one before and my driving experience is not a lot. Would be Mostly trail riding. Possibly some snow plowing. Probably not much mud. Not a lot of hauling. Mostly for getting out in the woods and scouting and enjoying the outdoors. I have a few options in mind and was looking at suggestions. All these in 4x4. An Arctic Cat Alterra 400 for $4700(0% for 36 mos), a couple hundred more for the Alterra 450, Arctic Cat 500 $4900,Arctic Cat XR 550 $5600, Polaris Sportsman 450 HO $5000, Honda Rancher ES camo $5600, and a Suzuki Quad King 500 asi camo $7000(with 0% financing). I mention that because this was a little out of my price range but there savings with the 0%. A lot of Arctic Cats because my local dealer is having a great sale at the moment. I appreciate any and all opinions. I looked at a few used ones but they were mostly in the $4000 range for 8 year old machines without the friendly financing. Thank you, Matt

I take the Alterra 450 if it's only a few hundred more then the 366cc Altera.
I like the 450H.O for $5000.
I always like the KQ 500 but $7000 for a 500cc class is crazy when the other 500s are $5000.
Just to let you know the 450 Alterra and 500 both have the same 443cc motor 2017 Arctic Cat Alterra™ 500 Red ATVs Calling a 443cc a 500 is almost fraud. The 450H.O has a larger 455cc motor.

It's $4799 plus just tax and title, some of these places throw in destination and prep charges that are as high as $700. Now that should be fraud!

If you can get a Sportsman 570 for $4799+fees, that's the best deal of any of them. All dealers tack on a lot of fees. Tax, freight, setup, title, etc. General rule is add about $1000 to the advertised price to get your out the door price. More on utvs as they cost a lot more and the taxes will be quite a bit higher.

Watch out for the "fees". I'm not a Polaris fan, but the 570 for $4800 would be a steal, if they screw you with another $1,000 in fees, keep looking. I'd probably go with the AC 500, heard the Kymco based motors are pretty quick. But I'm basing that upon both of my old Suzuki motor AC's that have been bullet proof.
