Rancher or 400 foreman
#1
I am just fixin to purchase a new fourwheeler. The only 2 i want are the Honda Rancher or the 400 foreman. I woant to get one that is fun sporty has enough power to pull 26 inch tires pretty good and also pull a good bit. I know the foreman is more powerful but i dont think it is sporty enough. I dont want to pay more than 5500. please help.

I have no experience with the Rancher, but the 400 Foreman will do a great job, can run quickly in the woods, due to low seat position and good overall feel.
They have plenty of power but the 26" wheels will make a great difference in its everything, you will find the factory engineers know more than most of us, (Except for Yamahaw Griz fools, they know more than the rest of us-they think), The stock tires and wheels fo a grand job.
My brother has 2 of the 400 Foreman units, one has over 4,000 miles and never any problem, rides it hard in the woods and streams.
What ever you get, ride it and enjoy.
Good Luck

Love my 400 Foreman. I don't really know much about the Rancher, but alot of people wear by them. They have that torque sensing fron axle that is supposed to really work well. The Foreman really isn't very sporty. I wouldn't want to get mine very high off the ground and it's not real nimble. Don't get me wrong, I will ride with anyone, but darting in and out of trees becomes a little hairy. As far as power goes, I don't know why you would need any more than the Foreman has. Good Luck

I'd have to say YAMAHA RULES is right, the big bear has more torque, better handeling, and is quicker and more sporty than both of those, hindas dont suck, but the big bear better sutis your purpose, trust me, you will be pulling your honda riding friends out of the mud with the bear family, if you like auto, go with kodiak or grizzly, if you like auto clutch, go with bear

Nice try, but to bad he doesn't want a yammy. My riding partner has a 00' Big Bear, and when compared to my rancher (we switch up all time)your summary wouldn't match ours at all. The BB does have a little more power but in a race it's darn close. In the trails the rancher is much more sporty and fun, especially in the twisty stuff. In the mud both of these machines hold there own, and sometimes the new ap front diff on the rancher shines whereas the BB will struggle. Not a major difference however.

thats not true buddy, the rancher does not have better handling than the bb, the bb;s differential is better than the ranchers and the formans, somtimes those hondas dont know which wheel to spin slower and it screwes you up, i guess its almost as good as the 99 bb, but not the 2000, your looking at only some of the minor specs

you have apperantly never riden on a rancher. it handles much better than the BB. the only thing the BB has on the rancher is a LITTLE faster. and the new ap differintial is MUCH better than that on ANY of the yamahas.
yamahas make good machines but honda makes a better utility quad....hands down
