I hagan outy 800r max with 27" mud lites . I had 28" outlaws on it. Putting the lites on it gave me a lot more. Ottom end. But my top speed is still 55mph . It hit the rev limiter two marks past 6000 rpm. Is my speedo off or do I have a slow outy? What could be the problem . Thanks for the help.

Increasing tire size will decrease your mph "reading" but youll actually end up with a faster topend mph as long as your motor has enough power to keep the tires turning - which the rotax 800 does. Decreasing tire size will get you off the line quicker, your gage will read a faster mph than what you're actually doing- but you'll need to hit a higher rpm to reach the same mph as your stock tire size.
Smaller tires ned less power to turn, but cover less distance For every one tire revolution / larger tires use more power to turn, but cover more ground per revolution.
A stock 800 outty will go about 65-75 mph depending on external factors.

i am not sure but i never herd of a mph law for atvs. I knew minasota had a cc limit but brp just changed there msos to read 799 now days and not 800. I think non xt's can get into the upper 70mph, but not sure how much past that they can go. I would say 80 would take a pretty small rider to be in the saddle on a paved surface with lots of air in the tires. Top speed is really more relative to room and clutching / gearing, more than anything else. Well maybe room to test it helps too. Lol

74.6 after 1/2 mile
On paved road 1/2 mile run with GPS 74.6 on my 800. Standard tires, no winch, or any extra stuff, that just adds weight. I weigh 200 lbs and had a full tank of gas. The speedo read 78-79mph it was actually closer than I thought it would be. The speedo was withen 1mph up until about 60 and then it started to move off a little.
