DS50 loses speed to idle - help!!
#12
I would check the cables. I know, why? I have a 03 DS50 and it runs great. The only issue I have had is the left brake handle locking clip. You need to have this engaged to start it. Sometimes, it won't start or will stall when idling. If I fiddle around with the connection to the cable it will fire right up and ride fine. This doesn't happen frequently enough to be a problem but might be worth a look.
You have a lot of money into the quad now. Don't want to rub it in but I bought mine used 2 years ago for $750. It was barely ridden. Keep that in mind if it keeps acting up. Good Luck.

I have an Eton 50 with the autochoke that does something similar when it's cold, and if I don't shut the fuel off when we shut it off it floods immediately. I was going to suggest the auto choke. I'll have to look at mine. I didn't realize you could just unplug it. Maybe that's what I need to do too.

Bombardier 2 Stroke DS 50 Bogs Down
I know this is a very common problem with these machines. They have an electric auto choke on the carb. Simply unplug this. If you have trouble starting your machine in the future plug it back in to do so, then un plug it again. Took me some tinkering, but after scratching my head for a day or two I finally figured it out. Also just for any of you wanting to speed this thing up tremendously (from about 18 mph to 35+)you should buy the carb for the 2 stroke ds 90, the cdi box for the 2 stroke 90, and a 428-28 tooth rear sprocket (also be prepared to remove 3-4 links from your chain to install the sprocket). All of which will cost you a whopping 75 dollars on ebay. Your kid will be as stoked as if they got a new machine.
