I agree! Dont go with the sleeved 720, they've been nothing but trouble. OMW can build you a stock bore that will out-do the 720. Otherwise, OMW has a huge sale on their 730 cylinders right now.

ok well here is my situation,
All the past posts I've made about carb issues were me chasing my tail. We did a commpression check and that came back bad. Low compression. When oil was squirted into the head and then cranked...it shot up to the proper compression. So i was told it's not a valve issue but rather a ring/piston/cylinder issue. So i figure if im gonna have to do any bore work i May as well go a little bigger. I wish i could afford to go the 730 route but i just can't afford it. Im not a hard core rider at all, mearly a trail rider. Is the 720 kit really that bad? Is there any other kits out there maybe not as big that is a good buy? I Just wanna get back up and running, not go race airplanes. What would be some suggestions on what to do. I have not got the head off yet to really see exactly what the problem is yet but just looking at my options in the mean time.
Thanks,
Dave Brendorfer

dave, why do you need the bigbore? i would think another stock bore piston would be way cheaper than either option.......But if you deside to go that route, I went with the 720 and i am very pleased with it . there are many of the 720 guys out there that are very pleased with theres but there is and equal amount that wasnt....Im sure that 90 percent of the guys that went with the 720 if they had it all over to do again, they would go woith the 730 and spend the extra cash for the reliability....I dont think the price is that different from each other right now.

The absolute very best suggestion I can give you, is dont race airplanes!!! LOL
But no, the best thing you can do is call OMW Racing :: 270.334.3331, and tell him exactly what kind of riding you do, and how much money you want to spend and he'll set you up.
I dont want to speak for omw, but I want to say the 730 kits are 1200.00 right now??? That includes everything youll need to install it. Piston, wrist pin, rings, gaskets, etc. But like I said, dont quote me on that. Im not sure that is all fact.

i have the 720 kit now and dont have any problems . but i prepared for it . i used a sealent on the ring around where the sleeve met the cylinder. and then hooked up a temporary radiator, to circulate head gasket sealer. and ran it through the first day just to be sure. drained it let it sit open 1 day . and havn't had any issues since. my thermostat even quit and overheated , after replacing the thermostat. the head gasket is still sealed i have about 500 in mine. i want the 800 kit from omw but for now my 720
is strong. just make sure the work is done by a pro. with a few sleeves under his belt.

We pulled Daveb86 Ds 650 apart. It showed 70 psi of compression and a little over a100 with oil in cylinder, this is without disabling the decompression lever. So its got someblow by going by the rings.....What is needed to replace the rings? I saw something about the cylinder that it has a coating?
