ds650 battery draining
O2 ds650. Put in new battery ran fine. Parked it in a heated garage. Went out to start it and battery was completely dead. I've only owned this maybe a month. The guy I got it from said he put in a new battery and then it died and wouldn't take a charge any more so be gave me a new battery when I bought it. Obviously the battery isn't the problem and has something draining it. I've read some where it could be a rectifier. But would this do it while its turned off? Could it be the starter? Just looking for some ideas and how I can go about troubleshooting it.

It wouldn't be the starter, there is no power going there unless the solonoid relay is pulled in, most likely the voltage regulator is the problem. It's located under the back of the air box. I did have a battery go bad in mine while I was riding it, must have dropped a plate or something and opened the battery up. I discovered it will not run with a bad battery. At least there isn't a great deal of wiring on these quads, pull the plastic, grab a test light and start looking for all of the places it has voltage when the key switch is off. Somewhere awhile back somebody posted a link to a wiring diagram on here as well.

Disconnect the battery. Find the rectifier, closely inspect the wires when they enter the rectifier, and odds are you will find frayed/exposed wires. .Pretty common on machines that see rough duty, and the wiring harness is not secured very well. You might be able to fix the wires and re-insulate them, but odds are the wires have shorted against each other and fried the rectifier. Repair manual will tell you how to test if the rectifier is working properly, or do a search in this forum
I found a screaming deal on a used rectifier on fleabay for $25 shipped. Do your homework for cross references and you can find one cheaper. I believe the one I found was off of a Sea-Doo, but it's the exact same part that's on the Bomb.
