i have one of those cheap chinese atv's (mistake i know).. anyways it wouldnt spark and ended up being the stator.. then it would start but not charge.. one coil on the stator puts out 70 vac going to the cdi.. the other ones puts out nothing... maybe 1-3 vac.. is it possible that the stator is bad and its brand new??? there is no voltage going to the voltage regulator so im guessing that is why my battery wont charge and the head lights wont come on.. we are going out of town tomorrow im going by the tao tao parts house on the way home from work to get whatever i may need.. any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED.. yes it is possible to have a brand new defective part. it has happened to me on a SunL quad.

 

One thing I've learned from working on aircraft: Just because the part is new, DOES NOT mean that it is good.

working at Autozone since getting laid off from Gulfstream has reinforced that.
