Default Missing Fuel Filter

I have a 2009 taotao with a 110cc loncin engine it is only a few days old. Today when i was checking over it after my ride i saw a missing what i thought was a fuel filter with a sealed off end hanging on a line towards the rear of the engine on the right side. What was this for and is it fine to ride without it?

Yep. I posted the same thing months ago since my 2009 Taotao had the same thing. The line you are referring to is the carb bowl vent line. I never did figure out what that fuel filter looking thing is, but I suspect it's a desiccant (dryer) cartridge of some sort used to keep things clean/dry for shipping. I nipped the sealed end off of it and left it in place.

Cool thank you. What spark plug model did you replace yours with and did you change out any other parts? (If you changed the spark plug)

I haven't touched the spark plug on mine yet, but it's only got a few hours of run time on it. The only thing I did was cut in a cheap lawnmower fuel shut-off valve between the tank and carb. I would have added an inline fuel filter, but there's not enough fuel line to work with and the line I bought wasn't right. There's literally like 4-6" between the tank hose barb and the carb fuel inlet on my 110D. There is a screen type filter built into the hose barb connection on the tank. Like I say, the one thing that amazes me is how well this little bugger runs. It fires right up and will sit there and idle all day it you let it. How were you able to confirm Taotao uses Loncin engines? I haven't seen any Loncin labeling on our 2009 model year 110D.

It just has a plate on it that says "Loncin 110cc" I might try putting in some kind of filter in the fuel line but like you said there really isn't much space at all.

I replaced the spark plug with NGK C7HSA and gapped it to .0275" (.7mm) and now it starts up on the first second of the first attempt to start. I also changed the oil with 620 ml of Pennzoil 15w-40 Heavy Duty Diesel Oil. After that I put dielectric grease on the battery terminals and on the spark plug and i am going to put it on any other electrical connections once I move them. Its running much better now and will hopefully last longer... Hopefully it will be a good chinese four wheeler and I can prove my friends wrong.
