Default No Back Brakes?

So I finally got my 200cc Jetmoto atv runnign good and ready to test. I got on started it right up and went, then I tried to stop. The front brakes work prefect, but the back ones don't really grab that much at all. When I cranked on them I was expecting the back wheels to lock up and stop me instantly on the cement, they didn't! It was like almost as if I was doing nothing. I lifted the atv on the rack and tested it by pressing on the brake lever with my hand and I cannot spin the tires. The brakes grab. As soon as I put the bike down on the floor and hit the brakes with my foot, I can still push the bike around with not much resistance. Am I missing something?

Sorry to bump myself on this guys but has anyone had any ideas. We want to take the quads out for the first time this fathers day and I am stumped. I cannot ride it without brakes. Any ideas would be appreciated. I already drained all the old fluid and put in new stuff. The problem is still there. Could I need new pads? There is plenty of pad on there but who knows?

Thanks for the reply, do you know if bleed them like a car? Three or four pumps, hold the brakes down, then open the valve, close the valve and repeat?

They can be bled like a car but its a pain...i use a vacuum brake bleeder (harbor freight sells a cheap one) (mighty vac sells a not so cheap one) With a brake bleeder you pull the fluid thru the system.... as long as you dont let the master cylinder go dry during the process your good..

Thanks I did it the normal way over the weekend and it feels like I have a bit more grab, but its still not solid. I am going to take the pads out today and clean them good. I will also sand the disc a bit too to remove any gloss. I am going to see if I can pick up one of those bleeders this afternoon at AutoZone and try it. Thanks for the info.
