just picked up a 250 today that had been sitting for a few years. Owner said it had no spark and he did not feel like fixing it nor did he take teh time to check and see if it had spark.. Got it home and pulled the plug and tested for spark. Well it had spark.. so after tearing the carb apart and cleaning it several times i was finally able to get it to run by taking a length of fuel line filling it with gas and letting it gravity feed.. was able to keep it running for a good 10 min by keeping the tube full. So after it was warm and i figured i had the carb working decent we shut it down. I drained the tank of old fuel put fresh in it and new battery.. Now i cant get the darn thing to start. No Spark. Cant figure out what changed to cause a no spark.. For teh life of me i cannot find a diagram with values test the 6 pin cdi

I honestly would just change the coil and cdi and that would probably take care of your issues.

not gonna just start throwing parts at it until it is fixed.. Im thinking a bad wire some ware.. I cannot see a coil or cdi going bad in 10 min of putting it back together

and this is why you just don't throw parts at something with a little simple diag... Sitting on it trying to figure out were to start looking for the reason on no start. Was messing with the kill switch and noticed it sounded funny that it was not making contact on every push.. Disconnected the kill switch out of the cdi and fired right up.. Now to pull the switch apart and see whats up.. probably just replace it anyway since the light switch is broken off. Simple diag probably saved me $150

no i was just going off what the previous owner told me.. he is pretty good with mechanical. but i guess he never really dug into this. could be the kill portion of the cdi that is bad to. Still have no run a meter across the kill switch to verify it was bad... got it going and that's all i care at the moment..hehe
