Default panther 150md transmission?

Just picked this up.No carb but has compression.
What I want to know is exactly how does this transmission/shifter setup work? I have had a few 150 atvs here but never seen one like this. As it is,no matter what I do,i cant get it out of gear into neutral.

Not sure if yours is like my sons Dinli 90, but the CVT doesn't grab until you hit the higher rpm's.

hmmm, on this one with no carb on ,when I turned it over to see if it had compression and seeing if the starter worked,it tried to walk forward on me as it spun over.

Ok, that sounds like a problem. This link shows it as a 3 speed "Auto" with Reverse.

Atvs - PowerSports

Drain the oil out and open the clutch cover.

This is def CVT as here is some parts for your quad

It looks like a totally separate reverse gearbox on the rear. I am assuming the lever disengages it when the lever is put forward mode.

I would remove the chain, then you can sort the reverse box lever problem after you've sorted your carb and running CVT issues.

Even if the rear box is forward and reverse switching, it still shouldn't roll when turning the motor over.

Mine would not try and move until about 1000 to 1250 rpm.. (guessing) I have had 2 of these 150 GY6 CVT quads and they are/were both like that. one had reverse, one didnt.

Reverse should be engaged when the lever on the rear end is pulled towards the front of the quad.. in its relaxed position(sprung back) its forward gear.

that is how this one is. when the shift lever is fwd,the rear lever is back into the "relaxed" position. When the shift lever is pulled to the back, the lever on the rear goes fwd. I guess there is no pushing this heavy brute in neutral then..lol
I will get time to work on it tmrw and see if I can get the tranny to not engage the chain if she cranks up for me.
