Default Aftermarket reverse

Im planning on buying an atv with the engine in parts.
My intentions are to buy a gx200 clone with a centrifugal clutch and install in it. The question here are whether its possible to add reverse in the mix.
Ive seen stand alone gearboxes on ebay for about 100$ and think its worth it.
Im wondering if thisis i possible combination and if someone has done something similar to install reverse

I would just buy a new engine with a reverse already in it.. If the current engine is in parts you could be running into the same cost to put it back together and put a reverse box in and mods for that. New engine drop in and ride. You look around you can get them fairly cheap

I want to use a gx200 clone as a replacement and wondering if adding a reverse gearbox into the mix is plausible. I do know that getting a stock engine with reverse is easier

So I did buy a kazuma dingo 250 automatic with reverse and the plan is to use the gearbox from it on a gx200 clone with centrifugal clutch.

Got the atv home today but lots to do at work and borrowing place to work on it means im not able to start working on it quite yet

Getting the centrifugal clutch to fit a GX engine is going to be a big job, and that GX200 puts out about 6hp. The dingo will probably produce about 15hp. Fit the complete engine gearbox unit to get a much better result.

Why add a reverse to a motor that has reverse?

I've ordered a GX200 complete with centrifugal clutch and I plan to gear it down, I don't need speed as its going mostly to travel around at work, pulling a small trailer and a log splitter.

30-40kmh is more than enough for this purpose.

And I appreciate the input, I'll look into the engine that came with the Dingo and see if it's possible to use the gearbox as a whole from it.

I know this isn't a clever project and it's simpler to just buy a engine for the purpose with a inbuilt reverse, but I want to test myself and engines for ATVs are expensive in Norway (110cc chinese brands start at 500$) unless you buy used and the purpose is to get a reliable atv that I can in worst case scenario buy a new cheap gx200 clone for.

Edit: Checking the service manual I see that you're pretty spot on, the Dingo originally has 14,96hp. As said however, it's only to get around chopping wood and such.

The engine that came with the dingo is in parts and I want a reliable engine so I intend to replace it with a gx200 clone without reverse.
