Default Thumb Killer Throttle

Hi guys. I'm looking for a bit of advice and/or suggestions.

I have an '01 Hyosung TE50 China bike. Ya know...the yellow/blue bikes.

It is a terrific runner, but the issue I'm having with it now is the kids are complaining that it 'kills their thumb'. I ride it and agree it is a bit of a killer on the thumb.

I've looked at the cables-they are good. The return spring seems normal. Likely it has always been like this, just now we are taking longer rides as the kids are getting older and the problem is showing itself.

I'm thinking it is the jet needle spring in the top of the carb. Some Google-Fu tells me this is a problem on other bikes(big and small) seems the fix is to order a softer spring, which is out on this China bike as I am lucky enough to find a supplier for OEM parts, much less a spring with a different pre-load rate. Or cut a rotation or two off the spring, stretch it back to it's original length. This seems to help other quad owners.

Anybody got anything different to offer?

Don't overdo it, Kids and throttles stuck open are a bad combination.

Just order springs off ebay.. a couple of $$ each so order a few different rates until you find one you like.. Their really not model specific for the spring..

Thanks for the tips!

I'll check the cable routing again to be sure it isn't binding. The ebay search is a great idea. I don't know why that didn't cross my mind!
