Default 2 ply vs 6 ply

Does anyone know how much effect going from a 2ply to a 6ply tire will have on my 250 Recon? I have 25in (2ply) tires currently on it and it does not seem to bog it down in any way but I'm wondering if the 6ply's will. I compared weights online and it looks like going with the 6ply's will only add 20#'s total and since I'm not a big guy (155lbs) I don't think they will slow it down.

Any input?

a 6 ply is a stiffer tire, i doubt you will notice a ride difference, 6 ply will have a higher load rating obviously. it will be cool

You are bound to feel a little difference in acceleration, you are adding 20 lbs of weight the engine has to spin to get moving, which translates a little differently than 20 pounds on the seat or racks. I would still go for it though. 6 ply tires are much more durable and the performance decrease will be pretty small. It isn't like you are drag racing the thing and need to shave every possible ounce.

Unless your a pro racer, there is no concern with 6ply tires. I would take the durability of a 6 ply over the negative weight gains anyday.

Thanks guys. I figured the performance loss would be minimal but I've seen guys talking about increasing the size of their tires and then not being able to turn them over well in the mudholes so I just thought I'd check.
