Default Help with tire selection

I'm getting a Yamaha big bear 400 4x4 soon and wanted to put better tires on it than the old worn out stock tires most of my riding is on clay gravel dirt roads on our farm I also like to ride in sand/rock creeks and light mud not much snow in Alabama I want at least 6 ply and something that last a while I'm not going to pay more than 90$ per tire

Kenda Bear Claws might fit your budget. What size are your stock tires?

There are quite a few knock offs of the Bighorns with similar tread patterns. Colorado Components M17, MotoSport EFX Moto MTC, GBC Dirt Tamer are a few that come to mind.

Something like a Mudlite at would be a good choice too and they're relatively inexpensive. Amazon has pretty good prices on tires too. Here's a full set of 4 in stock 25" size for $265 with free shipping.
Amazon.com: Full set of ITP Mud Lite (6ply) 25x8-12 and 25x10-12 ATV Tires (2): Automotive Amazon.com: Full set of ITP Mud Lite (6ply) 25x8-12 and 25x10-12 ATV Tires (2): Automotive
They're 6 ply and almost as light as your stock tires but more aggressive. Actually some of the newer irs big bears actually came with these as stock tires, a big upgrade over the tires Yamaha used to put on them. Maxxis Zillas would be another great choice but they cost a little more.

Still around $300 for a full set of 4 with free shipping and they're a little more aggressive than the Mudlite At's and still very lightweight and also 6 ply. These were the 2 I was looking at for upgrading the stock tires on my Grizzly. The Sedona Mud Rebels are another great tire for a good price as well.

Ok since I have started this thread I have changed machines I now have a 2011 big bear it came factory with mud light AT tires that are almost gone it only has 1200 miles on it so they apparently don't wear very well but I really like how well they perform great in creeks light mud and ride smooth but they are worn out with only 1200 miles as for zillas they are more aggressive than what I was looking for I want tires that last at least 2500 miles on hard ground and don't suck in the mud and sand

Thanks!!

There are some good priced radials now. They get plenty of miles before wearing out, so in away you get your money back. On a 400 I would just stick with 25" tires.
