Utah Moab Area 1.4 Million Acre Monument Proposal
I'm from Monticello in SE Utah. The Outdoor Industry Association recently sent a letter signed by over 100 businesses asking him to declare a "Greater Canyonlands" National Monument. It is 1.4 million acres (slightly less than the state of Delaware). It would certainly have a detrimental effect on jeeping and other access to the area. Below is the list of businesses that are promoting this. Camp Chef has withdrawn support after hearing from unhappy jeepers/OHVers/mountainbikers/outdoorsmen. Please help out by sending emails/posting on FB pages/calling these companies. I've also included a map put together by OTBP maps with the roads/trails that are likely to be affected.

Do you mean it would be listed as a park, and not a recreational area, so no motorized traffic? if so, that would be a terrible loss, I was out in Moab this spring riding Canyonland, Sandy Flats, and other areas, that would be a big blow to tourism out there, thousands visit to ride the rocks almost year round.

The proposal is for a national monument. SUWA sent the proposal which specifically outlines that many trails and roads are to be closed. The OIA sent a letter supporting this designation. It would mean increased regulation, closure for many areas, permits, fees.
