First time buyer help needed
Hello everyone, I am in my teen years and looking to purchase my first atv I have been looking around for about 2 months now on Craigslist and local motorsports shops and today I came across a 2011 yamaha raptor 700r on Craigslist and I mean to tell you this thing is beautiful I know that this 700r might be to much for me to have as my first atv but I've had quite a bit of experience riding my friends quads and I've put in a decent 25-30 hours riding. I'm not so much worried about the power of the quad but I feel that the deal may be to good to be true the man is asking 1500 for this bike and it has 250 miles on it, does it seem like a scam? Should I meet with this man and potentially buy it after I inspect it? Please help me

Never hurts to look.. do you have a buddy you can bring wit you that has some experience? I would also look up and see what compression is for that machine and take a compression tester with you. Check for cracked paint on the frame especially around suspension area. This could be signs of a bent frame.

I understand. And should this 700r not pan out the way I want it to what other 4 wheelers would you recommend? Not trying to go for anything smaller than a 400
And I don't care for the looks of utility quads plus they aren't suitable for the type of riding I'm going to be doing

So was the 700 a scam? For 1300 I would limit my searches to the 250x/300ex or POSSIBLY a 400ex. Your budget just doesn't allow for much more and have it be a decent quad. I applaud you for budgeting for equipment. Helmet, goggles, and gloves are a must. Boots, pants, and long sleeve shirts are also in order, hopefully you already have some suitable items in your closet for these. Come to think of it, no need for riding specific gloves either. Any decent and comfy glove is a big improvement over being bare handed.
