Default Hoping someone could help me out 2006 kfx80

New to the forum, and to working on ATVs. I purchased a kfx80 for my 7 year old boy and 6 year old girl. Runs great but the problem I have is that the clutch belt is hitting the clutch housing while idling. Once it gets going it runs hard with no issue. I took off the clutch housing cleaned out but thats as far as I got.
The guy I got the quad off of told me he had replaced the belt recently. After 2 weeks of the kids riding It started rattling.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance, Mike

The correct factory belt would never hit in the housing. double check to make sure it is the correct belt, this one could be a little bigger, letting it flop around when idling and not under tension. you may also want to check to make sure the engine mounts are solid, maybe the engine moves just a little, putting slack in the belt.

Thanks Ill take a look at that. the belt does seem loose I can squeeze it in the center and easily both ends of the belt touches in the center. Is there any pulley adjustment tensioner on it?

No adjustment, its like a snowmobile, you have to turn the secondary and open it a little to get enough slack to remove/install the belt, then the moveable sheaves take care of the gear ratios as the revs and load change on the engine.
