Default 2000 honda 300ex

Okay so last sunday (April 24, 2016) I have been painting it because I haven't had a battery until wednesday. I finally got it out and rode it yesterday. I was driving and accidentally shifted into neutral while going to second, then floated it to second and then third and it sounded like the chain falling off (metal bouncing around sound) and my motor shut off and tires locked up bringing me to a stop. Now my starter wont even turn over. Can you guys give me any ideas on what this could be? I believe that something just binded up in the gearbox causing it to lock up.
