2011 polaris sportman - low oil
Had oil change done on quad but shortly after the plug on the crank case came loose spit out 1 quart of oil and shut the quad down. Put in another plug, put 1 quart back in to top up and now bike wont start. Its turns over and sounds exactly like it did before this incident (while turning over) but it just wont fire. I have pulled the spark plug and it has spark and compression just wont fire. Can anybody help?

I do not have a compression gauge, simply did an idiot test with my finger. Thought maybe someone might have had a similar issue and there may be a quick solution. By the sounds of your response, it might be a bigger issue than I thought, the quad ran like a dream before this mishap. Does polaris not have a low oil pressure shut off switch to prevent the type of damage you speak of with the rings? Appreciate the response.

No low oil pressure shut off. I'm just going by what you posted as to what happened. Loosing half the oil supply and the machine stalling on you and now wont restart, but has spark just doesn't sound good. If it's a Sportsman 500 compression should be between 55-90 psi because of the compression release on the cam.But even that can be deceiving at times if a piston has partially seized from heat and lack of lubrication. But I'd at least check that out first.
