Default 2008 Polaris sportsman 500

Wont run unless hooked to battery charger. Brand new battery. Any ideas?

Checked voltage 13.6 not running. 16 with charger plugged in at 35 amp. Down to 13.6 after charger unplugged and still running. Then it died

what was the voltage when it died? sounds like possibly voltage regulator or stator is poched

Voltage was the same running or not 13.6.

Then one of the above is bad or u have a loose or corrode wire someware

Load test the battery. I've had brand new ones out of the box that would show full 12.8 volts but had a dead cell and didn't have enough amperage(current)under load to start an atv. Look at this article.https://www.batterystuff.com/blog/ho...ry-is-bad.html Plus 13.6 volts is on the low end of the spectrum as far as the regulator keeping a battery charged. Running lights,auxiliary equipment,etc can use more voltage than being supplied to the battery and may not supply enough to keep the battery fully charged also.Normal rate is between 14-14.5 volts
